Part I - The Agamemnon (2)

The characters have all met each other, and have discussed the strange dreams that have put them on the road to India together.

Some of the guys joined a few other guys in a game of poker. The characters who played poker ended out doing pretty well.

Fr. Ben met with another passenger aboard the ship who has also had the strange dream.

Gordon's attention was drawn to Cargo Hold #2. What is in there?

After the evening meal, another poker game was going to start, but the characters ducked out of the game, and have decided to try and sneak into Cargo Hold #2 to see what is in there. The man that Fr. Ben met, Adam Fuller, also ducked out of the poker game, but he went to his bunk to chill-out.

The characters are now trying to get into the cargo hold, but the rusty old hatch door broke off in Solomon's hand, causing a huge noise!

Part I - The Agamemnon (1)

The mix of characters, from their varied walks of life, begin the game aboard the steamship, The Agamemnon. The Agamemnon is a vessel in the service of the East India Trading Company, and they are bound for Calcutta, India. They are currently in the Indian Ocean, just a few short days from their destination.

The characters have each been plagued by bizarre dreams that defied definition, but each day they woke with a need to go to India. It wasn't until they each succumbed to that need that the dreams finally stopped. So they are on their way to India without the faintest clue as to why.

So far, the men have all had a quick meet & greet with each other. Several fellows are now about to play cards while Father Ben has a conversation with another passenger.

More to come soon.

Sidenote for Cthulhu Keepers

If you are thinking about running a game of Call of Cthulhu, and would be interested in a free tool to help you manage the characters and your game's timeline, then you need to check this out.

First - Go download a free tool called The Keep. You can find it at: http://thekeep.peppermill-marketing.com/. If you are on a Mac or Linux system, you will most likely need to use the manual instructions to open and load the program onto your system. It is a Java based tool. Once that's done, you now have the basic tool.

Second - You can now use a free online tool to generate Call of Cthulhu character sheets that can then be downloaded and put into your The Keep tool. You can find the online character generation tool at: http://thekeep.peppermill-marketing.com/sheets.php.

These two tools are easy to use and a boon to any Cthulhu Keeper.

I also want to tip my hat to the creator of these tools, Allicorn.

Check out his other Cthulhu related site The Book of Alternative Dead Names. A Cthulhu Keeper can find all kinds of helpful names for monsters, gods, and spells in order to add an air of mystery to your CoC game. You can also find links to original music created by Allicorn that are perfect for any CoC game too.

Thanks Alli!

And so it begins...

We lost a player, so we are down to six, which is perfect for this mystery, I think.

Play has begun, and as soon as we have our first good chunk of role play conducted, I'll then summarize it here for you fine folks.

Meanwhile, I encourage all Cthulhu fans to visit www.Yog-Sothoth.com, if you don't already go there.

Solomon Sage's background

Solomon Sage is one of the best private investigators in Boston. He's an old fashioned tough guy who would rather use violence to get answers. That said, he knows when reasonable words will do better. He lives to fight crime and solve mysteries. He started out his law enforcement career as a beat cop and quickly worked his way up the ranks to become a police detective.

But his dream was always to go into business for himself. He just never liked all the paperwork he had to do for the police department. Five years ago he set up shop, hired a secretary and quickly built a strong reputation. Solomon Sage likes to smoke cigars and he always has a flask of whiskey on hand. He is also a notorious womanizer. But he has a soft spot in his heart for his secretary, Betty.

Sage still has strong connections in the law enforcement community. In fact, he is their go to guy for cases they just can't handle. He gets the job done by any means necessary and he never gives up on a case. He has seen some strange things in his career but still remains skeptical of the supernatural. Only thing is, some things have been happening lately that are making him doubt his firmly held disbelief in the paranormal. Missing persons cases that just make no sense. Murder investigations surrounding a body with wounds no human could have made. And then there are those strange dreams about India. He has never been to India in his life nor has he never wanted to. But something about those dreams just give him that old excitement to investigate a mystery.

Jonathan Kellerman's background

Born to a poor Brooklyn family in 1892, Jonathan Kellerman achieved the highest education that his family could afford. When only fifteen, he went to wake his mother and found her cold dead body surrounded by a puddle of water. Not having the money (or the influence with local officials) for a proper autopsy, the cause of death was classified as unknown and she was buried in Potters Field.

Jon was forced to quit school and get any job he could which just happened to be selling newspapers. While working the street Jonathan began to get a fascination with the paranormal and the occult through science fiction magazines of the day. He also got very friendly with the local reporter and decided that with all his heart this is what he wanted to do with for the rest of his life. In his spare time he studied different languages as well as occult topics, and while at work he continually impressed the editors of his Paper with his go-get-em attitude.

Jon is now at the top of his game but something keeps him awake at night, the idea that something unnatural may have taken his Mother all those years ago. In his dreams he sees terrible things that instantly get washed from memory upon awakening. All he knows is that he is being pushed to learn Indian culture for a trek that his mind and soul is pushing him on. Maybe he will learn about his mothers fate, or maybe it will claim him as well.

Prof. Charles Sumner's background

Professor Charles Sumner of Miskatonic University.

He teaches history to pay the bills, but his real passions involve horrible mysteries man was not meant to know. He's deeply interested in (but does not participate in) the occult, accumulating as many books on the subject as possible, and even participating in several archeological digs to find evidence of the events described in those books.

When he's not delving into the depths of madness, he likes to take drives and tinker with his car, a 1922 Bentley that he purchased recently, after saving up for years, go target shooting with is pistol, and practice fencing.

Welcome!

I am creating a Call of Cthulhu adventure that I call "The Dream Traveler". The players will learn more about what the title means as the game is played.

We are currently looking for two or three more players, and the two players who have already joined are now rolling up their characters. So if anyone is interested in joining us, just leave a comment below.

Once the characters are made, we'll post them here so visitors of this blog can get an idea of who the characters are. We will be playing the game over at the Role Play On-Line site, www.rpol.net, and then I'll post a synopsis of each session here on this blog.

So, beware of tentacles and Go Pods!
